The Nitty-Gritty

Here are the details about what to bring. Basically its a good ol' fashioned campout so bring what you like, but James is organizing travel days and dinners. Call or email him to let him know what your plans are.

Meals:
We will be assigning each person (or pairs of people) either a breakfast or a dinner for the group. Lunches are on your own as are your plates and utensils, all the cooks will be providing is food!

Cooking:
We don’t need 5 stoves at the campground so whoever has the best stuff will probably be elected to bring theirs. Let me know what is available and I will send out a list of who is bringing what.

Transportation:
We need to know what your plans are for transportation down the river. We will be mostly going from 1 location to the next and stopping to fish along the way so any flotation device ( boat, kayak, tahiti, water wings…etc) will probably do. If you don’t have anything you plan on bringing that is just fine I have plenty. I will be bringing the drift boat, that can take 2 people plus me and we may have some other boats there I just want to get general idea of what is being brought so we have enough to transport everyone. Also, let me know who will be bringing their own life jackets.

Tents:
I have a couple large ones that can house people or everyone can bring their own, let me know what your plan is (bring one or tent surfing) and I can make sure there is enough for everyone. (obviously bring your own bedding)

Gear:
Ok, this is a fishing trip so here is what you will need. A 4-7 weight fly rod, a floating line, 3X tippet, and a selection of steelhead flies. I can provide rods for anyone who need just let me know but the more people who have their own gear the better. Also concerning flies I will be making a trip to fisherman’s warehouse to fill out orders for flies anyone who wants me to I can purchase a selection for you. I recommend buying between 10-20 flies at $1.00 each.

Waders:
Do you need them or not? I hope to go most of the week without them fishing in board shorts and sandals but will probably bring some for early mornings (if I go out early). If you don’t own any I wouldn’t buy them for the trip

Location:
The plan is to camp at Foster Bar on the lower rogue river. The fastest route from GP is over Bear Camp Road, but the coast route is also available. Foster Bar is a first come first serve campground so arriving Wed night I don’t think we will have any trouble getting a site. There will be no cell service so if plans change for some reason and you are showing up a day or so late, look for a note on the campground bulletin board.
